Women, these days are no less than men and Nykaa’s Founder- Falguni Nayar proves it!

Nykaa was founded in 2012 by Falguni Nayar. It is based in Mumbai and currently, it has 46 stores spread in different parts of the world. It was launched as an e-commerce portal selling a variety of wellness and beauty products.

In April 2015, Falguni started a physical beauty product store at the T3 terminal (Indira Gandhi International Airport).

The brand name Nykaa is derived from Sanskrit word- Nayaka- meaning ‘one in the spotlight’.

Falguni Nayar- Sucess Story.

Falguni Nayar was born on 19 February 1963 in Mumbai. Her early life comprises schooling from The New Era School and later earned a commerce degree. After her graduation, she went to IIM Ahemdabad for pursuing her Masters from Business Administration.

After completing her MBA, she worked 18 years in Kotak Mahindra Bank as managing director and got married to Sanjay Nayar. She has two children- a son and a daughter- Anchit Nayar and Adwaita Nayar.

After a couple of years, she decided to start a business. She wanted to explore something new and start from the very scratch. So she resigned in 2012 from her Managing Director position at Kotak Mahindra Bank.

Falguni developed beauty retailer E-commerce business with 2 million dollars. Today, it is one of the fastest emerging business and according to Forbes Nykaa has over 45 million visitors on the webpage and app a month.

Femina has been partnered with Nykaa since 2014, Femina has presented beauty Awards for beauty products, the voting has been counted from Nykaa customers and Fermina’s readers

In 2017, Nykaa’s founder and CEO Falguni Nayar were entitled as one of the most influential women by Business Today.

Following this, she received the “Women Ahead” award from Economic Times.
